YouthShoots delivered a social mobility workshop focused on the importance of belonging in schools. Educators explored how feeling seen, heard, and valued underpins student engagement, attendance, risk-taking, and belief in success. The session highlighted that belonging is especially crucial for disadvantaged students and must be embedded as a whole-school culture, not treated as an add-on.
Practical strategies included strengthening student voice, prioritising relationships, and creating leadership opportunities. The key message: improving social mobility starts with ensuring every young person feels they truly belong.
