The government’s Curriculum and Assessment Review presents important opportunities for schools. At First Give, we welcomed its emphasis on flexibility, enrichment and citizenship education – areas where we see significant impact daily in schools across the country.

The Review’s recognition that oracy, teamwork and leadership matter alongside academic content reflects what teachers tell us constantly: young people need structured opportunities to develop these essential skills. We’re particularly encouraged by the focus on addressing civic skill gaps among disadvantaged students, an issue our evidence consistently highlights.
