Working with schools across the country as Schools Liaison Officer for School in a Bag has reinforced one lesson: the most memorable learning happens when pupils feel connected to a purpose. Whether through assemblies, curriculum-linked activities or hands-on SchoolBag packing events, I’ve seen empathy grow when children understand that their actions can have a real impact on another child’s education. As educators and leaders, we have a unique opportunity to move beyond simply teaching about the world and instead create experiences that inspire compassion, responsibility and active citizenship. Those lessons often stay with young people long after the classroom activity has ended.
